Professional Musicians of the Southcoast
Local 216, AFM

An organization of community based musicians
since 1902

Professional Musicians of the South Coast

Chartered August 2, 1902 as a local unit of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada , 216 was more recently known as the Fall River Federation of Live Music, or commonly - the Fall River musicians union. In 2016, national and local leaders began to examine modern trends, and, in order to better serve our members and the communities in which they live and work, decided to consolidate several surrounding locals.
In 2017, Local 216 was reorganized as the Professional Musicians of the South Coast, and welcomed brothers and sisters from the following locals: Brockton Local 138-343, Plymouth Local 281, and Taunton Local 231. As of Janury 2020, the current president is Mr. Albert Deston III. Mr. Joseph Braga is Vice President. The executive board includes Scott Abrahamson, Nelson Cabral, William Couto, Daniel E. Ferreira, Michael D. Moran, Thomas Rose II, and Brian Vieira.

A key focus of the consolidation, in addition to increasing overall efficiency, was to better unite area musicians, and to support their livelihoods. Also paramount was recognizing that our musicians are citizens within the local communities we serve. So we have placed inceased emphasis on our role as a community based organization.
Local musicians contribute to the local economy and to local causes. Please support our livelihoods! Hire our members for your next event. Our members:
